I’m so glad you’re here!

Starfish Yoga is just getting settled in this happy little corner of the internet, with for-everyone yoga classes starting in Rochester, NY, after more than 1000 hours of yoga taught in Tampa. On this site you can learn more about upcoming classes, about me (Liz), and best of all, sign up for yoga… where you’ll learn more about you!

Community Partners & Resources

Join me at Frequency Wellness Space (location linked here) in the Neighborhood of the Arts. The studio is lovely and provides extra mats, props, and good vibes. Parking is free behind Old Pueblo Grill. THIS VIDEO can help you find the studio once you arrive.

My recovery wouldn’t have been possible without The Phoenix, a sober, active community. I am fortunate to contribute to the mission as Director of Marketplace Operations at the org, supporting Phoenix and our partners on a free digital app. If you are looking for recovery resources, download the app today.

My Approach

Yoga helps me feel better. Some days that is almost entirely a mental practice, and other days it’s much more physical. A good stretch goes a long way! I hope that when you join a class, you feel free to move in ways that are safe and joyful for you, and that at the end, you feel better than when you began.

What does that even MEAN?

I will guide you through a series of poses, provide options as needed, and remind you (a lot) that you can trust yourself to decide what your body needs.

FAQ

  • I think the best short description for my style is gentle or relaxing. I was trained in Hatha Yoga, which may or may not be meaningful as it’s sort of a catch-all term in US trainings.

I’m a read-the-room gal, so depending on the vibes, I may throw in some strength or vinyasa elements (down dog, warrior poses, etc.) but I err on the side of ease, prioritizing very gentle movements and reminders to breathe.

  • My favorite thing in all the land is teaching yoga to people who are new to yoga and/or think they can’t do yoga. You can! Heck if you show up and take a nap, you did yoga!

    Toe-touching is overrated.

Note: If you struggle to go from a seated position to a standing position or vice versa, let me know before class because chairs are a very welcome and easy-to-incorporate prop that I’m happy to help you use.
